Three months

Max is three months! I almost missed it because that's just what happens when you're a second child.

We had a rough start with reflux, but he has been freely doling out smiles since he was five weeks and they are the best. Like his brother, he is not a great sleeper. But you can't blame the poor guy - he has spent so much of his life being held upright in our arms he knows no other way. Desperate for more sleep, we have become cosleepers by necessity, something I never thought I would or could do. It has made for happier parents and a happier baby, so I will let future Terah and Michelle worry about any possible consequences.

He is a welcomed addition to the family and I try to kiss those chubby cheeks as often as I can!

Take Your Kid to Work Day

Noah now thinks going to work consists of playing pinball machines and having petting zoos.

"Mommy I want to hold baby"

This scene happens a lot around here...

Noah asks/demands to hold the baby.

Noah loses interest 0.002 seconds later.

Baby ends up like this.

Adult intervention is required.

Thoughts on potty training

We took the plunge on potty training back in December. A few things I've learned...

1. Six underwear is not enough. What was I thinking? It lasted us one morning. We now have 24.

2. Low expectations. At two and half, Noah was showing absolutely no signs of potty-training readiness. Having lazy parents didn't help. But you'd be surprised what sitting in wet underwear will motivate a child to do.

3. Favorite couch? It will get peed on.

4. Be suspicious. When he suddenly announces to you "I DON'T need to go potty," as he's sitting on your bed, he obviously has already gone.

5. Proud mama. It is quite amazing to watch their brain work from "I peed," to "I'm peeing," to "I need to pee."

6. And just when you think you're done. They pee in their pants and poop in their bed.

The end.

Day camp

"When the children visit their grandparents, we say going it's like day camp and coming home is boot camp."
- recent Wall Street Journal article titled  "The Ultimate Play Room...at Grandma's House"
