a local secret

Awhile ago, a friend had told me about a local secret here in Chicago where you can go down to any Chicago public library and check out a museum pass for free admission to some of the city's museums. I decided to test this out at the main downtown library...

It worked! I checked out a free museum pass to the Museum of Contemporary Art...

Here's the view from inside the museum looking out to Lake Michigan...

No photographs allowed inside the gallery, which is fine since I understand nothing about modern art anyway, but they had some cool looking stairs...

Afterwards, I decided to walk the couple blocks to my school to do some work. Here is the infamous Water Tower - one of the only buildings to survive the Chicago fire of 1871.

A beautiful church right on the busy Michigan Ave...

Right across from the church is the Hancock Tower, with the Hancock Observatory on the top that oversees the lake....

Gotta love this city!

a day of luxury...

I'm done! Just wrapped up my last final on Friday. Terah is happy to be relieved of his kitchen duties, and I'm happy to be back. To make the most of my week off, I'm checking out a different part of Chicago every day.

Today.... Lincoln Park.

Spring has finally arrived.

My favorite stationary store of all times. I was tempted to work there this summer that's how much I love it. I think it may still be my alternate career...

just a dream

No pictures today, just a dream. Last night I dreamed that my law professor was standing over me while I frantically tried to finish a paper that was already due 2 hrs earlier. I woke up this morning to tell Terah about it, and he reported he dreamed of Excel last night.

I think we're ready for our summer break!

visitors galore

One of the fun things about living where we do is the steady stream of visitors we get. We haven't managed to catch all them on camera, but it's been quite a few!

The latest and greatest have included such sightings as our college friend, Cindy, a native Chicagoan...

We waited over 2 hrs to eat at this super popular brunch place called Orange...

Then my childhood friend, Joanna, brought the awesomest cupcakes from St. Louis...

If you come to visit, we for sure will take you to the famous Chicago Pizza & Oven Grinder Co., recommended to us by our philly friends, Brad & Becca. Everyone has loved it, and I'll tell you why.

First, the lines on the weekend are over 1.5 hrs long, no reservations allowed beforehand. The host memorizes everyone's face, and doesn't write a single name down. Although, we got a waiter to admit to us on the downlow that sometimes the host messes the order up in his head.

So we've figured out the key to getting a table is to stay where he can see you - not an easy task when you're literally squashed right next to the next hungry guy waiting to get in.

The neat thing about this place is they make these pizza pot pies in bowls, with the cheese on top and the pizza goodness on the inside. They flip the bowls right at your table, and voila, you have the most cheesiest and hearties pizza ever. See how happy everyone is...

So much good pizza in Chicago!!!
