And he walks

Another post, I'm on a roll! It has been a long week at work and I'm finding blogging here after I shut down my laptop for the night gives me a few moments of respite.

At 15 months, Max decided he was finally ready to walk on Noah's birthday. We left that morning with a stubborn crawler and came home to this!

The mind of a 4 year old

What does a Bible, feminine pad with a yellow clip attached, and crayons have to do with pretending you're a busy chef?

Only Noah knows.

This is why I can never seem to keep our house neat.

Happy birthday

Terah's birthday always sneaks up on us and I'm never prepared.  But just like he is, he never complains or demands a big hoopla.  He is the rock of our family, and I couldn't have asked for a better father to my kids.

Every night before we sleep, he fills up a glass of water and places it on my night stand, simply because he knows I will be thirsty in the morning. That's just the kind of guy he is.

Happy birthday to our main man!

Noah's birthday

There's been a lot going on lately, so I had originally hoped to skip a birthday party all together. Noah talked so earnestly about his imaginary birthday party, I didn't have the heart to tell him no. Thankfully, my mom generously offered to host in her backyard, and two of his oldest friends (if you can say such a thing at the ripe age of 4) were able to join us for some low key friday morning fun.

Same theme (Noah's choice), but at least it was ice cream cake this year

Please note the amazing two floor playhouse my dad worked hard to put together last year for his grandkids....

Four and more

Our firstborn turns 4 today! Noah's threes were marked by what felt like more energy, more drama, more talking, more demands, and more parenting challenges. But my favorite "more" was to see his imagination blossom. He spends about half his life pretending he is some kind of vehicle.  I love witnessing the innocence that still lingers at this age, expressed in his emotions and make-believe play. Plus, we love his big deep belly laughs.

He has, and continues to tackle life with vigor, literally never taking no for an answer. We have come to understand his intensity comes from a place of caring deeply. On Sunday, he came home from the park with dad and excitedly pulled from his shirt pocket a "treasure" he had found and wanted to give to me. It was a clear plastic pebble. I told him I would indeed treasure it.

Happy birthday big boy!
